The Friends committee busy at their AGM this year

Volunteers and friends celebrate the Royal visit.

The Friends of True’s Yard

The Friends organisation was set up from the beginning to promote the museum, and to stimulate interest in the history of the old fishing quarter known as the Northend, as well as to raise funds to purchase the many and varied items needed to keep True’s Yard at the heart of the community it serves.

It has been remarkably successful in this endeavour due to the enthusiasm and hard work of its members in their fund raising efforts. This year alone, monies from subscriptions, bric-a-bac stalls, a Quiz night and other events have been able to provide professional standard Internet broadband for the new IT teaching room, enlarged graphics and other enhancements to the reception area. The Friends newsletter for June 2010 is now being distributed, it's full of the latest news and views and photographs of the Queen and Prince Philip opening the museum extension in February.

Please join now by copying the application form, filling it in and sending to the Treasurer at the address shown.  As a member of the Friends you will receive free entry to the museum along with other benefits, and you’ll play an important part in allowing this unique place to grow and develop.
