New Exhibition- Timber! Trees and Seas: The Port of Kings Lynn

Join us for our New Exhibition exploring Kings Lynn’s historic links to the Timber trade.

Find out all about the intriguing history of the timber trade over the course of history. From the its use for primitive tools and housing, to it becoming a vital resource in medieval trade. Timber fuelled the rise Britain as a naval power with hundreds to thousands of trees needed to build a single ship depending on its size.

Read about the local merchants and how their trade revolutionised the port of Kings Lynn. The Timber trade led to the building of more docks, and made possible the redevelopment of the town in the mid to late 20th century.

This exhibition was created with the cooperation of Setra Wood Products, a local company whose input has allowed for a detailed look at how the trade has evolved other the course of history. As wells as showing how it has adapted to work in the modern world.

Free with standard admission.
