The Museum is said to be haunted by 38 ghosts and we’ve had several groups over the years come round. Rob Clapperton and his team will show you the techniques and technology used to discover the supernatural. Followed by a chance to have a go yourself.
Event Includes:
Ghost hunting vigils in small groups with Rob.
Use of ghost hunting equipment including, K2 Meters, recordings, photographs, dowsing Rods etc.
Refreshments included such as teas and coffees and light snacks available for purchase.
All funds raised on the evening will go to the Museum’s Community projects.

Medieval Day
True’s Yard will be holding a children’s day on Friday 27th October 2023 and all children plus one adult (per child) goes free.
There will be a variety of activities so it is suitable for all ages. It will be a fun day for all to come and see and experience some educational fun throughout the museum.

True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum and All Saints Church are joining forces to put on a Carol Service. There will be a chance to sing your favourite carols accompanied by a choir and church organ. Plus historical readings about Christmases past. All followed by Mulled Wine and Mince Pies. A wonderful opportunity to get into the festive spirit.
This event is free to attend but donations are most welcome to support the Museum’s community projects and All Saint’s project for the installation of toilets on the premises

Older Person’s Open Day

At True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum

Wednesday 8th February 2023

Over 60’s are encouraged to visit True’s Yard for FREE. They can explore the Museum, watch several short Local History films made by Northender Arthur Paynter. Subjects include King’s Lynn, maritime history and folk song.

There will also be activities such as a Local History Photo Quiz, plus an opportunity to help identify some recently donated images to the Museum.

Visitors can also enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee for just £1 and a free refill in the museum’s Georgian tearoom.

Visitors to this event can also view the Pat Midgley Research Centre and have the opportunity to contribute their own oral history or write memories of the local area into special memory books.

True’s Yard is located on the corner of North Street/St Ann’s Street and has wheelchair access throughout most of the museum. Carers will also be able to enter free of charge.

Kathy Hipperson: Making a Drama Out of History (9th Pat Midgley Memorial Lecture) @ King's Lynn Town Hall

We are delighted to announce that our guest speaker for the 9th annual Pat Midgley Memorial Lecture will be local historical interpreter, Kathy Hipperson!
Kathy is best known as the charming cook, Mrs Avis Crocombe, from popular English Heritage series, ‘The Victorian Way’.
When Kathy is not baking delicious 19th century recipes at Audley End House, she is touring the country with her company, Time Will Tell Theatre, which she set up with fellow interpreter, Simon.
On Thursday 12th October 2023, Kathy will be delivering Kathy Hipperson: Making a Drama Out of History (9th Pat Midgley Memorial Lecture) in support of True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum.

Join Museum Curator, Lindsey, and Deputy Manager, Tabitha, for a special Christmas edition of our True’s Talks.
Through fun historical facts, anecdotes and food tasters, Lindsey and Tabitha will transport you on a journey through time to explore festive food favourites of the past.
