Margery Kempe Play at King’s Lynn Minster
22nd September 2018
SKIRTING HERESY: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF MARGERY KEMPE
King’s Lynn Minster, Saturday Market Place, King’s Lynn (7:30pm)
England’s darkest hour. The fate of the Lancastrian dynasty now hangs in the balance. Right in the middle of the Hundred Years’ War and the Black Death, King Henry V faces harrowing assassination plots. Invaders from without and chaos within. This is the dawn of the Protestant Reformation. England’s first heresy movement, Lollardy, threatens Civil War.
Based on a true story- Skirting Heresy: The Life And Times of Margery Kempe, By Elizabeth MacDonald is a tale of intrigue, love and above all standing up for what you believe in.
Directed by Christopher Yarnell- Skirting Heresy tells the story of Margery Kempe- a medieval mystic. Considered by many to be mad, bad and dangerous to know- Margery challenged the norm, forged her own path and despite being illiterate hers is the first autobiography in the English language.
With an original score created by Gareth Calway, Andy Wall and Vanessa Wood-Davies- the play will be performed in King’s Lynn Minster where Margery worshiped. It is a once in a lifetime experience!
