Following our intriguing exhibition at True’s Yard charting the introduction of fish and chips into our national psyche as the familiar and favourite slap up meal it is today, Jeff Hoyle, local columnist and historian, will be presenting a synopsis of the research undertaken to put the exhibition together. Jeff will look at the origins of the meal, and how it rapidly became popular in King’s Lynn as well as the nation’s favourite, providing the much need staple food during the wars for the working classes, opportunities for some of Lynn’s first female entrepreneurs in the late Victorian period and fond memories for many of Lynn’s townsfolk.
