True’s Talks: The Fight for Lynn’s Historic Buildings since 1885

The Fight for Lynn’s Historic Buildings since 1885 by Philip Venning, OBE is the fourth lecture in the 13th series of True’s Talks.

“King’s Lynn remarkable legacy of historic buildings has been of concern to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) since 1885, only eight years after it was founded by William Morris. The talk will look at how the SPAB has helped in the fight to save some of the town’s best known buildings from demolition, decay, damaging alteration and misguided repairs.”

This event is free, however, numbers are limited so booking is essential. Tickets are available at the Museum from Tuesday 17th January.

A former journalist Philip Venning ran the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) for 28 years. He now lives in Docking, and serves on the East of England Committee of the Heritage Lottery Fund, which has grant aided a range of projects in Lynn.
