Entrances

Our main entrance is located on the corner of North Street.

If you require assistance, ring the door bell and our volunteers will help you.


Push Chairs, Bags & Luggage

We have a small amount of room to store buggies in our reception area and free locker space if required for bags and rucksacks.


Refreshments

You will receive a warm welcome in our Georgian tea room and coffee shop, where a range of light lunches, treats, cake, loose leaf teas, coffees and or chocolate with a range of syrups can be purchased at reasonable prices.


Moving around the Museum


Lifts

Lift access is available for the research room and education room, and additionally for the smokehouse when required.


Access

Our museum, the gift shop and tea room are wheelchair accessible.


Seating

Chairs are located throughout the museum.


Evacuation

In the event of a museum evacuation, staff members will direct you safely and quickly from the building and to the designated muster points. If you would require assistance in the event of an evacuation please inform reception on arrival.


Toilets and changing facilities


Toilets & Baby Changing

We have accessible toilets and a disability friendly toilet on the ground and first floors. Baby changing facilities are provided.


Museum & Art Gallery policies


Food & Drink

Food and drink should not be consumed in any part of the museum except for the tea room, or for events in our education room when allowed.


Photography

There is no photography in the main museum. Photographs may be taken, however, in the Yard.
